DIA DE MUERTOS:

De Ruiter has decided to finally take death seriously. But in style. Mexican style.

On 3 November, you can celebrate Dia de Muertos. The Day of the Dead is a Mexican festival and day of remembrance.

This day of the dead often appears sinister to outsiders, but it brings together a lot of the good and beautiful things in life. Deceased loved ones are honoured, graves are cleaned and decorated. Food and drink is offered to the dead and then consumed together by family and friends, under the assumption that the deceased have already absorbed the essence of the food. All this is set against the backdrop of a huge feast in lavish costumes.

The Zwarte Ruiter is missing a celebration like this in the Netherlands. So we are going to do it thoroughly. With the best tequilas & mezcal, Mexican food, a fierce skull decor and lots of flowers.

Entrance is free. The party starts at 16:00 at the Zwarte Ruiter and just to be sure: this is not a night to show up in your everyday attire. You don’t want to be seen that way by the dead, do you?

Line-up TBA.
